Since Tuesday, our elder and staff teams have been praying diligently over how we should respond to the decisions made by Governor Abbott and our County Judge to lift mask mandates. After much prayer and discussion, we have decided that masks are now optional on our campus.
The apostle Paul wrote to the Church in 1 Corinthians 9:19: “Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ.” We recognize that God has given us freedom in many of these matters and that there are varying strong opinions. As believers, Paul reminds us that Christ calls us to let love and humility lead us in our decisions and always think of others as greater than ourselves. With this being said, those who feel they should wear masks certainly have the freedom to do so. Those who choose not to wear a mask are also free in this choice. Our chief request is that we all show love and respect to everyone within the body, regardless of their view concerning this issue. While masks are optional, we want you to know that our team will continue to do everything in our power to keep you safe! We will continue to register at the door so we can properly inform you of any possible exposure to COVID-19. We will continue to monitor temperatures as children enter the Children’s area. Our Sanitation Team will remain committed in their processes of cleaning between services. We will continue to do our best to allow for social distancing where we can and ask that you do the same. We will also continue to offer masks and hand sanitizer for you in the Commons.
Please be aware that ample opportunity for social distancing is available in the 8:00 a.m. service, and our online worship experience will continue to be provided. We love you all and ask you to help us maintain our unity as the body of Christ as we seek to effectively reach out with the hope of the Gospel to our community.
Love God. Love People. Develop Disciples.
